and to my horror...

the settings have been changed!!!

0.0

(i have a standard setting which i stick to all the time.
because i haven't mastered manual setting.)

and i was still thinking to myself how come the carousel photos turned out so badly. :(

i'm determined to use my free time to master manual settings so these things don't happen again. roars!

Semianniversary Part Two.

Was at Carousel, Royal Plaza on Scotts Hotel. Because we wanted only the best for our semianniversary.

It was the MOST expensive buffet i've ever eaten in my entire life. My big fat idea of wanting an international buffet translated into two big fat people -- us -- and a big fat hole in the wallet. :/

But i must tell you that the price we paid for this buffet did translate into a very sumptuous meal. Not only was the quality of the food good, their variety can KILL.

**Before moving on to the photos I must let you know that we only took a small portion of each food, and only repeated less than five items. Really.

Cooked mains. Check out chicken rice ball on top left and sashimi on top right!

I love the bamboo clams. Go for ones that are detached from their shells cuz they are more flavored and not sandy.

Sides. You can prepare you own salad sauce! And skip the hargou. It ain't good.

Seafood. Check out half lobsters, scallops, huge prawn with lots of 蝦膏 and uber big and fresh oysters...

...That's if you like it lah. We braved ourselves and tried the oysters but we really couldn't take it. I wonder why people like raw oysters. I prefer them fried with egg. Hee.

White clams, more scallops. Not bad. Seafood's my personal preference. Too bad i can't do oysters.

Hello lobster meat. Muahahaha.

Half-time camwhoring.

Hello dar.

By this time we were quite full. But we die-die have to brace ourselves for the "last course" -- desserts!

Plate one. Check out creme brulee and cheesecake.

Plate two. Check out the mousses.

Plate three & four. Mudpie's not bad. I enjoyed the nonya kuehs.

Their variety of desserts is CRAZY. I doubt we took every item actually. And we were so full we had to give the chocolate fondue a miss. :(((

I'd definitely want to visit carousel again. When i'm richer that is. Next time round, i'd learn to be selective in my food choices. Because the variety can kill.

Thanks dar for the wonderful meal. Happy semianniversary! :))

Semianniversary Part One.

semianniversary /sěm'ē-ān'ə-vûr'sə-rē/
A term coined to mark the passing of six months since an event.

Could you tell i was crapping a definition? Haha.

Anyway, 12.04.09 was me and dar's semianniversary. :) For part one of our celebration, we headed to Changi Village.

We went to check out the good food at changi village food centre.

Chicken cutlet horfun.
I'll rate it 4/5.
I eat it again next time i go there! ;)

BBQ chicken wings.

Fried oyster omelette.

Sambal stingray.

The famous nasi lemak with a long long queue.
Should've asked dar to buy the fried chicken wing!
The other stuff are quite average actually.
I'll rate it 3.5/5.

Sugar cane juice.

As you can tell, we over-ordered again. =/

Saw this cat sleeping at the food centre. It was very crowded cuz it was dinner time. Someone nearly stepped on her! =S Silly cat still sleeping away. Check out her nipples! LOL.

After dinner we went for a digestive stroll along the flea market. There's a flea market at Changi Village every saturday. Interesting stuff you see there. From antiques to steal deals for clothes, accessories, books, etc.

The folks there are very friendly too and i enjoy their service. Much better, i feel, than the average shopping mall service.

One: Dar bought vietnamese coffee for her mum. 100g for $5.50.

It's so rare to see vietnamese coffee in singapore! I saw 曾國城 introduce it on 美食大三通 when he visited Vietnam. Vietnamese coffee originated from France when they were under colonial rule.

You need this special coffee maker to make vietnamese coffee, which the boss very kindly gave it to us for free. :) Filter the coffee powder through with hot water, add lots of ice, sweetened milk if preferred, and viola you get coffee. I'd love to try it for myself.

Two: Bought a pair of tiny desk clocks. 2 for $13. Dar's green and mine's red. It's sitting on my office desk now. :)

We also bought Uppercuts chips 2 for $7 and i got a watch for $9. The boss helped me to change a new battery too. Hee.

It's such a simple pleasure. Eating at a food centre and strolling through a flea market. A refreshing change from the highly industrialized fast-paced city life. Happy happy semianniversary. :)

Yesterday was Pui Mun's birthday.
So we gathered at her place for a celebration last Saturday.
We ate alot, played mahjong, played wii, and talked about being someone's bridesmaid. Woot.

Happy Birthday Zephen! :)

We were each supposed to bring some food over. Me and dar bought ice-cream with Hershey's chocolate and some other add-ons. Hershey's rocks.

Big eyes! =X

This is Algin + weird-looking Ronald McDonald. =S

Sze Hua + Algin.
(This is Sze Hua scary picture number one.)

(And here's number two!)
Sze Hua wanted more Hershey's but Junwei (her bf) say stop. So she tried to bite him. Hahaha. And she's not so scary in person actually. :)

Left to right: Wai Yee, Sze Hua, Amy, Zeph.

TWO:

Some of them did this handicraft thing. When you place them under a hot iron, the beads will melt together.

Pui Mun's bday cake. Hand decorated by Wai Yee and Sze Hua.

生日快樂!

Check out the fire. Hee.

Pretty candles!

Pooh looks really cute in this photo.
