title: Before i begin this post, i should let you know that actually both me and dar are on a diet.
他們說幸福的人會發福。 是真的。 Both me and dar have gained a substantial amount of weight ever since we got together. Although i would like to think that these extra weights are evidences of our love, they are ultimately unhealthy. :( And we got to shed these weights to regain our positive self-image and healthy bodies. So we've resolute to shed whatever extra weights we've gained by the end of three months, which is end June 2009. So far i've only lost one kg. o.0 Having said all these, it's kinda hard to transit on towards my blog post for today. Whatever it is, just remember that we're serious about dieting.... ... Had dinner at Parkway Parade foodcourt last Saturday. It was mad crowded because of some crazy sales going on throughout the whole shopping centre. Anyway we managed to settle down and grab some food. ![]() Top down, left right: 1. Curry chicken. We managed to buy the last curry chicken! So proud of dar. Haha. It's spicy enough, quite shiok. The chicken and potato have been cooked until they're very soft. Oooh. 2. Toasted french loaf to go with curry. I prefer bread, dar prefers rice. Hee. 3. Fried tung-hoon. It used to be really nice a few years back. But the standard has dropped. :( Is that the unavoidable trend of good food? 4. Chin-chow in a bowl. Also the last bowl for the day. Well done dar! This chin-chow is most probably homemade and it's very smooth! Plus it is different because it is not sliced as usual chin-chow is. But this chin-chow is scooped up straight from the tub, which makes it extra smooth to the taste. I love to just suck it in and feel how the chin-chow glides into my mouth. Gee i'm watering already! And for that perfect finishing touch we had a cup of KOI bubble tea. We ordered Ovaltine milk tea with pearls. This totally sealed the night. The milk they use at KOI is very different from those at other bubble tea shops. Dar says they use milk powder. I wonder if that's the secret. Last Friday, at chinatown, near Far East Square. We were scouting for our dinner venue when we saw Mr. Teh Tarik. So we dropped by to say hello. This is Mr. Teh Cino, and Mr. Teh Halia (Ice). Hello. I know it can't be seen clearly but my teh cino has a beautiful brown-white gradient with milo powder on top. And dar's teh halia was very good. Coming from a non-ginger lover, it was really good. We settled down our Mr. Tehs at Aglio Olio. Yupps, it's italian for the night. Al fresco dining cuz we think it has better ambience. More romantic, you see. hello naked flame. For the main dish we're to choose the level of spicyness. Mild, normal, spicy or extra spicy. Interesting huh. When the waiter said spicy is really spicy, i could see it in dar's eyes that she doesn't really believe him. Hee. Mine. Seafood Olio in normal spicyness. Everything was just nice to me. The pasta was al dente, they weren't stingy with the garlic and olive oil, and the prawns are just so fresh and crunchy. Yes, you read it, crunchy! Dar's. The photo doesn't do justice to the dish. It was al fresco at night so the lighting was really bad. Dar doesn't like pasta, so she ordered bacon fried rice, spicy. And it indeed proved to be too spicy. But still it's so good that dar grit through the spicyness and finished it still. I'll rate Aglio Olio 4/5. I'll definitely patronise them again. Check them out, they're at: 3 Pickering Street China Square Central #01-40/41 Singapore 048660 Tel: 6327 3622 After our dinner we strolled around and saw a group of people doing line dancing. They even have professional speakers and sound system set up. It looks so fun. Me and dar's gonna join them some day and listen to aunties and uncles talk about their children. :) Last Tuesday, Aston's Specialties at The Cathay. My orange juice, and dar's ice lemon tea. dar's fried chicken with pasta salad and onion rings. Ooh the chicken was good. Mine. Grilled fish with mashed potato and coleslaw. The fish was disappointing. We concluded that Aston's don't do fishes well. But the coleslaw saved the day. A satisfying meal, which cost us less tham $20! Last Sunday, Ichiban Sushi at Jurong Point. Hee. My half cooked salmon with cheese sushi. My fried sushi with lobster salad. My half-cooked tuna with spring onions and spicy powder. Dar's ever-so-original teriyaki chicken don. =X According to dar, you can't go wrong with chicken. We shared beef sukiyaki. The beef wasn't fantastic. The soup is less salty than the one we had at Nippon Tei, Batam, and dar prefered it this way. Close-up of the beef slices. I love japanese food. I'm sorry that dar doesn't. But at least she has grown to appreciate the first step towards japanese cuisine -- teriyaki chicken. Lol. (Dar, i still got Sushi Tei vouchers... =X) ... Er, what was it that i said i wanna do by end June? Hmmmm... |
