Have you been watching Fighting Spiders?

Have you, like me, wondered where in Singapore did they manage to find those nostalgic locations to film the show?

I was listening to 933fm when they interviewed they interviewed Andie Chan and Rebecca Lim, who played Tony and Susie in Fighting Spiders. According to the actors, they filmed at Little India, Pulau Ubin and Kampong Lor Buangkok.

...

Where is Kampong Lor Buangkok? i thought.

You mean there is a kampong in Singapore??

After some googling and a few days, i found myself going to the last kampong in Singapore, together with dar, pui mun and wai yee. It's like going on a excursion. So exciting! :D

Tadah! We arrived at Kampong Lor Buangkok.

Wooden houses, mud alleys, and electrical posts.

I've never tried drying my clothes on strings out in the sun.
I hear the clothes smell nicer when dried under the sun.

Supermodel cat. So pretty.

Kitten taking an afternoon nap. Awww~ good life huh...

It was around here where we saw the kampong kid.

See, there's the kampong kid wandering around the kampong.

(Holding a camera) "Eh? What is this?"

"Come doggie, mummy calling us to eat dinner.."

Many families in the kampong have their own garden and rear animals.

See-saw.

We chatted with a man who stayed in the kampong. This is his parrot, kaka. Kaka was shy when he saw us.

According to the man, his family has been staying there for four generations already. There are about ten odd households left in the kampong.

And he is immune to all the gigantic mosquitoes that kept attacking us.

After our excursion we sat at the bus-stop to apply tiger balm on our mosquito bites and eat curry pok.

For all who wants to explore Kampong Lor Buangkok, the address is 7 Lorong Buangkok. You can take bus 70 or 103 from Serangoon and alight at the Church of St. Vincent de Paul along Yio Chu Kang Road. Cross over to Gerald Drive, and you'd see the kampong after the big canal.

But please be discrete. It is a kampong, not a tourist attraction. :)

After that, we went serangoon cc to sing ktv, then chomp chomp for dinner.

The usual: Huge cups of sugar cane juice.

La la. Disappointing.

Stingray. Average.

Bbq chicken wings, the best i've ever had. Crisp, tender, honeyed.

Century egg poridge with pork. Dar and i agree that this is better than Hoe Kee porridge at Maxwell. Much more flavored with the same thickness. Ahhh, when can i eat it again???

Satay. Average.

Oh, and the popiah we had was pretty good too, lots of crunchy bits. Yumms. Can we go chomp chomp again soon? *whines~*
